The autumn paints a palette of yellow and brown leaves, the winter offers breathtaking panoramic views, in springtime fresh colours dominate the countryside and our summers are purple - the colour of the heaths. De Swarte Ruijter is situated in the middle of an extensive natural park, bordering directly on the Pieterpad - the longest and best known hiking trail of the Netherlands. Our hotel is an excellent starting point for hiking and cycling tours. We can provide you with maps, bicycles and picnic baskets. If you want to bring your own bicycle, you can park it in our bicycle shed. At walking distance from De Swarte Ruijter you will find Natuurdiorama De Holterberg. This museum offers a good idea of the life of animals who found their habitat in the hills of the Salland region. Nearby De Swarte Ruijter you can find: - five 18-holes golfcourses. - Deventer en Zutphen, two Hanseatic towns. - several castles and castle gardens. We are happy to help you organise gamespotting tours under the guidance of a forester, "klootschieten" (traditional Dutch version of petanque), archery, survivaltrails etc.
